What does the Family Mental Health Support Service near Safety Beach do?

It is important to always be proactive and check in with how your children are travelling on a regular basis. The mental health support service near Safety Beach provides early intervention individual support for children, young people and families.

This includes:

  1. supporting the development of healthy coping strategies, communication skills and resilience
  2. increasing the awareness with children, young people, and their families
  3. preventing ongoing mental health concerns
  4. facilitating service coordination and access to other services for the individual where need be.

As part of the service, we provide free group programs to help facilitate a positive outcome. These programs are a safe, nurturing space for children, families and carers to receive support for any mental health problems. You and your family can develop healthy coping strategies and behaviours, alongside emotional awareness and effective communication skills.

With Better Place Australia, there is the opportunity to access individual case management directly to the young person with the involvement of a family member or carer.

Sometimes, a deeper cause is preventing the person or family moving forward with mental well-being. Our practitioners can identify which additional specialist services are needed to address this to further support you, your child, and family unit.

This could include referrals for:

    • family violence
    • drug issues
    • alcohol issues
    • specialist teams for crisis or sexual assault services.
